Abstract
Based on data obtained from the WHO, in 2023, hypertension occurs in the world as many as 63 million people out of the total population every year. In Indonesia, the number of hypertension cases in 2021 is 630 thousand people. National data in 2022 for hypertension occurred as many as 28420 people, while diabetes mellitus was 13676 people. In West Nusa Tenggara province, the incidence of hypertension cases tends to increase. The incidence of hypertension cases in West Nusa Tenggara Province in 2023 is 282,970. Meanwhile, the number of hypertension cases at the Karang Taliwang Health Center in 2024 is 2,097, consisting of 1,107 men and 990 women. In the working area of the Karang Taliwang Health Center, there are 2,097 cases of hypertension consisting of 1,207 male and female patients and 110 cases of elderly patients affected by hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Objective: This study aims to find out whether there is a relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus and type 1 hypertension in the elderly 60-70 years old in the working area of the Karang Taliwang Mataram Health Center Method This type of research is a quantitative case control research with a total sampling technique with an overall population of 110 respondents. Results: From the results of statistical tests using Chi-Square, the results were obtained using continuty corretions so that the p-value was obtained where the p-value was less than 0.5, then it can be concluded that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected, meaning that there is an effect of type I hypertension in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients aged 60-70 years in the working area of the Karang Taliwang Health Center. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, the average history of hypertension was the most respondents with a history of hypertension of 75 respondents (68.2%). A person who has a previous history of hypertension is most likely to develop hypertension because hypertension is a hereditary disease. Based on the above statement, it can be concluded that the more vulnerable the elderly are or the older the age of eating, there will be changes in the body system that will decrease and there will be stiffness and even narrowing of blood vessels which causes a high risk of high blood pressure in the elderly. Based on the results obtained by respondents who had type ll diabetes as many as 75 respondents (68.2%). Because the respondents rarely do physical activity, caused by age, obesity and have a history of hypertension.
